The Nuclear Physics Laboratory was designed by Philip Dowson of Arup Associates in 1967. It is now renamed the Denys Wilkinson Building after the British nuclear physicist who was integral to its creation. The highly visible fan-shaped concrete tower houses a large Van der Graph generator, a particle accelerator.
